First Vision

Like many others, I consider one of history's most significant events to have happened over 200 years ago, when a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Smith entered a grove of trees in upstate New York to pray in 1820. In answer to his sincere prayer, God, Our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph and initiated the beginning of the Restoration of the fullness of Christ's gospel and church. This painting commemorates the moment when the Father called Joseph by name and said, pointing to the Savior, "This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him!" May we all strive to hear Him each day.
